Black Holes V will be a scholarly research-related
conference focusing on the latest advances in the theoretical and mathematical
aspects of black hole physics. The conference "Black Holes V" is the fifth conference
in the series of conferences "Black
Holes: Theory and Mathematical Aspects" which was started in 1997.
These conferences take place every second year, immediately before the
Canadian Conference on General Relativity and Relativistic Astrophysics
(CCGRRA). "Black Holes V" will take place May 14-18, 2005, at the Banff Centre, Banff, Alberta, Canada,
just before the CCGRRA 11 meeting
in Vancouver. Organizers: Valeri Frolov, Don Page, and Andrei
Zelnikov, Theoretical
Physics Institute, Department of
Physics , University of Alberta.
The "Black Holes V" conference, as the previous ones, will cover
a wide spectrum of topics such as physical effects near black holes,
black holes and quantum gravity, black holes and strings, numerical relativity,
black holes in astrophysics, relativistic effects and compact objects,
gravitational wave production in systems containing black holes. We
expect to have about 80 participants.
Invited seakers include: Matt Choptuik, Valeri Frolov, Jack Gegenberg, Gary
Gibbons, Ted Jacobson, Barak Kol, Gabor Kunstatter, Kayll Lake, Greg
Landsberg, Robert Mann, Robert Myers, Ramesh Narayan, Don Page, Amanda
Peet, Eric Poisson, Gordon Semenoff, Kristin Schleich, Leonard Susskind,
William Unruh, Robert Wald, Don Witt, Eric Woolgar, Andrei Zelnikov.
Please note that May 14 is the arrival day. Lectures
begin in the morning of May 15 and end in the evening of May 17. May 18 is
the departure day.
